Four teachers from St. Andrew's Episcopal School attended our first ISTE, Lower School math and IT, Middle and Upper School history. Among so many other things, the experience has inspired me to create a professional blog of my own!
Perfect timing and locale for my first ISTE! I gleaned so many useful resources, and connected with dozens of people, who I hope to maintain contact with. I certainly followed the advice to 'walk up and talk to people.' It seemed every time I did, there was some incredible connection to be found.
A professional goal is to begin developing portfolios in my 4th grade classroom. This blog is my own parallel portfolio of sorts to develop personally and professionally alongside my students developing theirs personally and professionally. This past year in Math I incorporated math notebooks and a very simple blog using Kidblog, and want to extend both. I'll teach math exclusively this year - we are fully departmentalizing - a perfect opportunity to focus in on blogging and eportfolios.
Besides developing my own Blogsite/portfolio, as mentioned above, I hope through this to continue to develop a PLN. It will be a teaching tool at first to house all the valuable resources I am discovering in my daily journey in 2.0 in a place where I will visit often, and can easily access. Hopefully this site will develop into something I share and make more interactive.
