The day started with everyone meeting in the lobby at 7:45. Because of the snow all government offices were shut down and the buses weren't running. Fortunately, the White House and the National Science Foundation were able to still continue with today's events. Instead of buses, we walked a few blocks in the snow to the Metro, many in tennies, carrying their dress shoes in plastic bags.
We rode the Metro and then walked several more blocks to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which, as it turns out, was harder to access than the White House Here we dealt with security for the next 30-45 minutes, turning over IDs and going thru screening in increasingly snowier and windier conditions. My feet were pain probes by the time I got access to the Eisenhower, where we spent the day in PD.
