On December 20, 2013, after returning home from closing Advent chapel, and now off for a 2-week Christmas break, I did a short run and returned home to hear a 'ding' from my computer, signaling a new email - a press release from the White House!
What followed were a series of whirlwind phone calls, messaging, emails, and lunch dates as the news spread from a local press release. WAPT news snapped up the story, and before I knew it, folks I had never met were 'friending' me on Facebook. Slowly, over the next couple of weeks, the reality sunk in. This was for real!
My Bio Profile was posted on the PAEMST site and I was contacted by Jennifer Wilson, a former winner from Rankin County Schools, who reached out to offer her experience and a helping hand should I have any questions.
We had lunch and found out I my new running buddy training for the Blues is one of her best friends! It was so fun and uplifting to share our common interests and individual pathways through the application process all the way to the finish line!
Now, just to wait till the dates are set for the recognition events...!
